Why You Should Add Facial Serums to Your Beauty Routine

Facial serums seem to be flooding beauty aisles everywhere. I feel adding this extra step to your beauty routine is really worth our time and investment.

Why? Because serums offer more targeted results and more potent formulations to help improve your skin.

Think of serums as a way to give your skin an extra boost before you apply your moisturizer. I use serums as a way to treat specific areas that I want to improve my skin such as acne, fine lines, discoloration, etc.

Serums have a smaller molecular structure and therefore they penetrate deeper into the skin surface. They are more potent in their ingredients which makes them more powerful.

Whether you’re already a fan of serums or ready to try one for the very first time, it’s important to know which serums are best to incorporate in your daily routine.

Here are a few examples of serums and the ingredients you should look for to improve your skin…

Natural Citric Acid Serums

Look for serums that contain glycolic acid, lactic acid, salicylic acid and even kojic acid which are natural citric acids that help speed up the exfoliation process, unclogs pores and helps build collagen.

A couple of my faves are:

iS Clinical Active Serum

Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Glycolic Night Serum

Vitamin C Serums

I think everyone from age 18 and up should be using a vitamin C serum daily. This is a potent antioxidant that protects your skin as well as repairs sun damage and builds collagen and elastin. It also helps heal breakouts! A must have product.

My faves are:

iS Clinical Pro-heal serum Advanced Plus

Drunk Elephant C Firma Day Serum

Retinol Serums

Retinol works to neutralize free radicals, stimulate collagen production and accelerate skin turnover, smoothing fine lines and wrinkles and blurring acne marks and other blemishes in the process

My fave:

Drunk Elephant (It’s actually a cream)

Tripeptide Growth Factor Serums

Peptides and Growth factors help support healthy skin structures while diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. In addition your skin will look more vibrant.

My fave:

iS Clinical Youth Serum

The rule of thumb is to start out one serum at a time until you decide if it is right for you. Don’t use your face as a science experiment. Start off one serum at night. Use for a few weeks and then start incorporating a daytime serum. Always start off slow and build from there.

Jeans that Flatter Your Body Type

Recently a friend of mine suggested I try DG2 jeans.  She promised me that once I do, I will be addicted to how they look on as well as how great they feel when wearing them.

I was certainly a skeptic but decided to give them a try.  I may look small but since having three kids… jeans don’t typically fit well.  Either they are too tight or too loose, or gap in the back when I sit.  The list of issues I have when wearing jeans is endless.  Until now…

How to Look Younger…Naturally

They say we don’t know what we have until its gone. This old cliché could have many connotations, but one thing is for certain, it is defiantly true for aging!

Loss of volume in the face is the first noticeable sign of aging, and each year we lose one percent of collagen in our faces. Not to mention, the loss of facial fatty tissue, and facial bone density. Continue reading “How to Look Younger…Naturally”

Boost Your Mood and Energy Level

Hello My Beauties,

Have you ever questioned why as we get older, our energy and focus diminishes? Well I know I have, and I have learned that it might not be just our age, but more so our hormones. The stresses of life can take their toll; trust me- I get it! But if you’re feeling depressed, lethargic, irritable and can’t seem to shake the funk, your hormones might just be the culprit to your mystery.

Recently I read that that one in 10 people in the U.S take anti- depressants, and an even more alarming statistic is that one and six women between ages 40 and 50 do as well. The truth is, many of these woman and even men may just need their hormone levels checked.

This week I investigate Bioidentical Hormones using Pellet Therapy. You might be thinking to yourself… what the heck is that?!

This technique is a form of anti-aging medicine, that claims to not only aid in helping you build collagen, and even lose that notorious belly bulge, it also claims to help protect the heart, mental health, and cognitive function.

This video is just the beginning of a conversation I want to open up with you about bio identical hormone replacement therapy.  Does it interest you?  Scare you? Confuse you? Or have you had bio identical hormone replacement therapy? Please share in the comment section below.

In the weeks to come, I will be interviewing more experts and Doctors who share different applications, information, and insights about the benefits and risks associated with bio identical hormone replacement therapy.  So stay tuned- and be sure to subscribe to my YouTube page because there’s a lot more to come on this topic that you don’t want to miss!

Simple, Human, and Real Beauty

Here’s to retraining ourselves to see the amazing in images that are simple, human, and real!

As a celebrity makeup artist and stylist- I have worked with countless celebrities to help them achieve a flawless look for their appearances on TV, in movies and on the covers of magazines. To create their “flawless” looks I applied beautiful makeup, coiffed their hair, and dressed them in stunning outfits before they stepped in front of the camera. Once in front of the camera, they were lit perfectly to take away any remaining imperfections…and then in most cases, the images were digitally enhanced after the shoot.

How can we live up to the perfect images we see everyday?  We can’t. It takes hours and a team of people to create the images we are bombarded with on a daily basis.

I am so happy that we are finally seeing celebrities stepping out in front of the camera without the makeup, styled hair, lighting, and airbrushing! Yes, they have imperfect skin, wrinkles, freckles and all!  Yes, they are human. Here’s to retraining ourselves to see the amazing in images that are simple, human, and real!
